Alice Schroeder is an American author, columnist and former insurance analyst. Schroeder is a Bloomberg News columnist who was until 2003 an influential analyst in the field of property/casualty insurance, as well as an expert on the effect of the September 11 attacks on the insurance industry.〔 Schroeder was chosen alongside Ben Bernanke and Hillary Clinton as one of the ("People to Watch in 2008" ) by ''BusinessWeek''. Schroeder worked as a certified public accountant at Ernst & Young from 1980 to 1991. Until 1993 she was project manager with the Financial Accounting Standards Board. She joined Morgan Stanley in 2000, after working at several broker-dealer firms. Schroeder was ranked the #1 property-casualty insurance analyst two years in a row by ''Institutional Investor''. In addition, she was voted one of ''Business Insurance's'' Rising Stars in 2002.〔 Schroeder's book ''The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life'' was released on September 29, 2008. The book, a #1 New York Times bestseller, was written with the cooperation of Warren Buffett.〔 ''The Snowball'' was named Amazon’s Top Business Book of 2008.
